Solo Call of Cthulhu playthrough: Heinrich's Guide to Carcosa, Part 2

Solo Call of Cthulhu playthrough: Heinrich's Guide to Carcosa, Part 2

Read part 1 here

Last time I sat down with The Guide, I made it all the way through character creation. I'm playing Cassidy, a librarian from Kingsport.

I'm picking up here with "Prologue 4: The Mask," where I rolled a 1 for the Mask of the Lost, meaning someone important has left me and left a void in my life - a lover.

Character creation took place in a mysterious building, interrogating the mirror. Leaving the building, which I discover is a gas station, I run into a stranger, who I promptly tell to fuck off. Sadly, the stranger is then revealed to be a knife wielding monster (oops). I first attempted to run, which failed, and I took some damage. I then made a dash for the car, which succeeded.

I found myself a strange black lake that appeared seemingly out of nowhere, under a sky with two black spheres.

In the distance I see a Metropolis.

In the distance there is a labyrinth of skyscrapers and factories, but also bomb shelters and bunkers. What appear to be trenches lined with barbed wire connect one structure to the other. No lights illuminate the Metropolis, but spotlights search the sky as though guarding against some flying enemy.

I look around, finding nothing, and then decide to try my luck there, walking into The City and out of the Prologue.

Managed to travel to Carcosa without losing sanity so we'll call that a net positive I think.
