A decent King in Yellow book and another decent King in Yellow Book
Read The Truth of Carcosa by Jacob Rollinson recently and really enjoyed it. It was very much in my register as a dossier-horror with nested accounts, found documents, etc, all wrapped up in a pulpy tale about a fascists-won version of the UK. It's prescient and compelling.
This follows up another Carcosa-themed book that landed a little less in my wheelhouse but I recognize that A Game in Yellow by Hailey Piper is an excellent book. Much more of a tight and personal story, as concerned with dynamics of consent in BDSM as the forbidden book. The mortifying ideal of being known, indeed.
I think the Chamber's adjacent mythos is much more interesting to me these days than big dragon squish boat type Call of Cthulhu stuff ALTHOUGH there's nothing wrong with that (I just caught Godzilla vs Biollante and boy that's a fun movie).
It's just a less explored/defined space -- for now -- and I think that's why we are seeing continuously interesting works exploring it.
