#Cthulhu, Kickstarter Round Up 5/6

Fresh Meats

Whispers from the Shadows

The Lovecraft eZine and Alien Jungle Bug Productions are proud to present Whispers From The Shadows. This live-action Lovecraft-inspired anthology web series adapts short stories from the popular Lovecraft eZine into standalone short film episodes. The series stars Doug Jones (Hellboy, Pan's Labyrinth) & Katie Parker (Absentia). We also have great talents behind the camera like music composer Troy Sterling Nies (Call of Cthulhu, The Whisperer in Darkness), language consultant Britton Watkins (Star Trek Into Darkness), and of course the whole team at Alien Jungle Bug Productions.

Interesting. There is some pedigree here. I'm not familiar with any of the short stories they are adapting, but I do occasionally check out the Lovecraft eZine and enjoy it. And I've enjoyed Doug Jones in pretty much everything I've seen him in.

Cthulhu ABCs

Cthulhu ABCs is a fully illustrated 60(ish) page hard-cover ABC book completely inspired by the works of author and visionary H.P. Lovecraft. The book will be fully colored and gloriously high-detailed. Truly a labor of love for me, I will spare no expense in time or sanity to make each page creative, enjoyable, fun, and sometimes horrific - but in a good way.

I think I've said before that I'd much rather see a nice funny Kickstarter than an overly serious project with Cthulhu or Lovecraft tacked on for the slight amount of extra money that can make you. It's already hit it's funding goal, so we'll be seeing more of this in two years or so.

Status Update

Mark of the Old Ones and the Eldritch Cases: Dagon are getting there. Both seem interesting. I know I made some cracks about them being "cash grabs" last week, but both look like they've had a lot of time and energy put into them, so maybe they are worth checking out again if you are on the fence.

Hugglethulhu could use some love, guys.

Honorable Mentions

A History of the Great Empires

A narrative history book about the politics, warfare, betrayal, and culture that shaped the first decade of Eve Online.

Well it certainly doesn't need the boost from me, but it's also the most exciting thing that I see going on on Kickstarter right now, at least of personal interest to me. I've never played EVE Online, but I suspect that the stories that one occasionally hears about it are at least as interesting as actually playing it.
